About Us

Boston Harbor Scottish Fiddle School (BHSFS) is a residential camp for all ages and all instruments, with emphasis on traditional Scottish tunes for fiddle. Fees include: Saturday afternoon classes, dinner and evening activities on the mainland, five nights in comfortable rooms on the island, all meals, music instruction, parties, concerts, ferry service to and from Thompson Island, and limitless Scottish musical enjoyment.  In addition to fiddle classes on four levels, and piano and guitar we offer electives, opportunities for camper-led workshops, parties, jam sessions, dancing, and our unique and celebrated Visitors’ Day. Evening parties during the week feature a New England clambake, a band night with themed costume party, and a very entertaining ceilidh where campers show off their talents.

Since its founding in 2003, BHSFS has attracted to our faculty many world-renowned fiddlers in the Scottish and Cape Breton traditions, along with well-known proponents of other instruments. Below is a summary of our history, by year, teacher and course.
