Folk Arts Center of New England
The Boston Harbor Scottish Fiddle School is a program sponsored by The Folk Arts Center of New England (FAC). FAC is an incorporated nonprofit educational organization whose mission is to promote interest and participation in the traditional dance, music, and related folk arts of many cultures, and to support other groups and individuals with the same mission.
Founded by Conny Taylor and Marianne Taylor in 1975, FAC sponsors weekly and monthly community folk dances, annual camps, a music club, workshops, tours, and other special events. FAC dance leaders and musicians also provide cultural programs in schools and community settings. See FAC programs.
The Folk Arts Center’s more than 500 members are people of all ages and backgrounds, singles, couples, and families. FAC members and friends provide financial support and volunteer services that sustain the organization.
The Folk Arts Center provides resource and referral services for traditional dance and music communities in New England and beyond. The Little Shop of Horas®, FAC’s retail music store located at the Stoneham, Massachusetts office and online, offers a large selection of traditional music recordings, videos, and books.
